Dear PMI Community,
As this year comes to a close, I want to pause for a moment to reflect on what we have accomplished together, and to thank you for the role you continue to play in advancing our shared purpose. First and foremost, thank you. To our global community of members and volunteers, your engagement, insights, dedication, and care continue to make a real difference. Throughout 2025, you helped grow, advocate for, and elevate the project management profession around the world. On behalf of PMI’s executive team and Board of Directors, I am deeply grateful for your commitment to maximizing project success and elevating our world. Let me highlight a few of the foundational and most meaningful areas of progress we made together this year.
We are shaping the vision of the project profession
Building on the largest research initiative in PMI’s history, published in December 2024, we continued in 2025 to redefine what project success truly means. Through follow-up research, thought leadership, the release of PMBOK 8 and the activation of our content and innovation platforms, we deepened the M.O.R.E. perspective and reinforced a broader, more ambitious vision for the profession. This work challenges project professionals worldwide to raise standards, expand accountability, and increase their impact. It is increasingly influencing how success is defined, discussed, and delivered across industries and regions.
We are elevating PMI’s leadership as the profession evolves
Through acquisitions, partnerships, and organic growth, we continued to strengthen PMI’s role in the areas most critical to project success and the future of the profession, including AI, sustainability, enterprise agility, social impact, PMOs, gigaprojects, product management, and change management. These domains are deeply interconnected. By investing across them with intention and coherence, PMI is reinforcing its position as a credible, relevant, and forward-looking leader for project professionals navigating increasing complexity.
We are leading in an AI-driven world
AI continues to reshape how projects are conceived, delivered, and governed. In 2025, PMI continued to lead in this space. PMI Infinity has now surpassed 180,000 unique users since launch, more than 1 million learners have registered for our AI-related digital learning offerings, and PMI-CPMAI is the fastest-growing certification in our portfolio. This leadership is not about technology alone. It is about equipping project professionals with the knowledge, judgment, and confidence required to lead transformation responsibly.
We are offering a more connected global membership experience
We continued progressing toward a more seamless and integrated membership experience worldwide. In 2025, the new membership model expanded to 39 additional countries, bringing the total to 40, with 60 more planned in early 2026. This progress brings us closer to Global Pass, a unified way for members to access PMI and chapter offerings globally. Our ambition remains to make this integrated experience available worldwide by the end of 2027.
We continue to grow our global community
PMI’s global community now includes over 1.85 million active certification holders as of the end of November 2025 (a +7% growth year over year), more than 763,500 PMI members (+4%), over 411,000 chapter members (+26%, with the roll-out of our new membership model), and more than 18,500 active volunteers (an all-time record). In spite of a challenging environment in China and the U.S., growth has been strong across most of the world, particularly in Europe, MENA, Sub-Saharan Africa, APAC, and South Asia. North America and Latin America also experienced strong growth in the second half of the year. Our expanding community remains one of PMI’s greatest strengths, and it is a direct reflection of the dedication, generosity, and consistency of those who contribute their time and expertise around the world.
Looking ahead, together
Our product portfolio will continue to grow in 2026. Planned releases include, among others, a new PMP and its supporting ecosystem, the piloting of an advanced certification for senior professionals together with key corporate and government partners, upgrades to PMI Infinity, a significant expansion and refocus of our eLearning offerings, and the refresh of several of our professional certifications. In parallel, we are advancing a broad set of growth initiatives spanning e-commerce, B2B and training partners, enterprise agility and sustainability, the enrichment of our events, the expansion of our offerings in China, and other areas. Our vision for the project profession remains clear: a profession that is elevated and essential, recognized for its leadership, ethics, innovation, and impact, where project professionals have strong career paths, access to senior leadership, and the opportunity to make a positive difference in the world. Achieving this vision takes all of us, together.
A personal note
On a more personal level, 2025 was not an easy year for me either. During my illness and recovery, I was deeply touched by the many messages of support, encouragement, and empathy I received from across our global community. Those gestures meant more than I can fully express, and I will not forget them. They are a powerful reminder of the strength, humanity, and solidarity that define this profession and this community.
Thank you, sincerely. I wish you a restful holiday season and a strong start to 2026.
Warm regards,
Pierre Le Manh
President & CEO, PMI
